Domů Food in the Maternity Hospital

Food at the U Apolinář Maternity Hospital

The latest studies on the diet of breastfeeding women have not shown that gas-forming foods pass into breast milk. For example, it has not been proven that carbonated water, fresh bread, legumes, or cruciferous vegetables are harmful. Therefore, we are pleased to offer you a more varied menu, always respecting your dietary habits and current preferences.

During your stay in the postpartum and high-risk pregnancy wards, you have the option to choose from several types of diets.
You can opt for a new diet type with higher fiber content that meets all principles of healthy eating, or stick with the traditional menu that prioritizes non-gas-forming foods. If you wish to change your initial food choice later, it is always possible to request a swap.

Do not hesitate to use the services of nutritional therapists. They are available directly in the maternity hospital, will review any dietary restrictions with you, and will try to accommodate your needs. In cases of allergies or intolerances, we will prepare a customized menu for you.

What options can you choose from?

  • FIT Maternity Diet

Healthy and varied meals including higher amounts of fiber, whole grains, legumes, vegetables, and fruit. Fish is included twice a week. The menu does not include sweet or fried foods, dumplings with sauce, or fatty products except for high-quality ham.

  • Maternity Diet

Traditional type of maternity diet prioritizing non-gas-forming foods. It does not include cruciferous vegetables, fresh or whole-grain products, or legumes. This type of diet is also offered in cases of digestive problems.

  • Special diets – vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, diabetic, etc.

A combination of the above types, taking into account the specifics of the particular diet.

Premium Dining Services

If you choose premium services during your stay in the maternity hospital, you can enrich your breakfast with additional healthy treats. In the postpartum ward, a fridge full of dairy products, juices, fruit purées, oatmeal, nursing teas, and more is prepared for you. Extra food items can be selected from a food list available in the postpartum ward. Each product is labeled with symbols indicating its characteristics, e.g., high protein content, high energy content, lactose-free, gluten-free.

Can I bring my own food?

We have no objections to bringing your own food, as long as it complies with hygiene and expiration regulations. Your food will be labeled and stored in the fridge available in your room.

We believe you will enjoy the food with us!
