Prof. MUDr. Michal Mára, CSc.
Head of the Department of Minimally Invasive Surgery
The co-founder of modern minimally invasive surgery became interested in uterine fibroids at the beginning of the millennium. At that time, women planning pregnancy were rarely operated on—and certainly not laparoscopically. He approaches this field, which he sees as a combination of gynecology and obstetrics, with passion and humility. His principle is to treat patients individually and fairly. He is driven by a sense of purpose in his work, but also by the energy he gets from sports. Playing beach volleyball and cheering on rugby allows him to clear his head, stay in shape, and cultivate a playful spirit.
