Care for premature babies after birth
What happens during and after the birth of a premature baby?
The birth of premature babies takes place in a specially equipped delivery room. In addition to obstetricians and midwives, a team of neonatologists and specialized nurses is present with a special bed, where the baby is placed immediately after birth at the mother’s bedside, stabilized, and examined. Afterwards, the baby is transferred to one of the specialized neonatal units (NICU, neonatal intensive care, or intermediate care), where care is tailored to the baby’s individual needs.
