Science and research<\/h1>

In addition to patient care and teaching, science is the third important pillar of a university workplace. The Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics has traditionally been among the departments of the First Faculty of Medicine with the best scientific performance. In 2021, it was ranked 6th out of 73 clinics and institutes of the faculty.<\/span><\/p>\n

In research, we cooperate with many other clinics and institutes within the General University Hospital, the First Faculty of Medicine, or the Academy of Sciences, as well as with many prestigious foreign universities. Most projects focus on so-called clinical research, which aims to improve current patient care. Research at the clinic is funded from several sources, from institutional support of the First Faculty of Medicine and the General University Hospital, from research grants of Czech agencies (a total of 4 grants in 2022) or foreign agencies (1 project in 2022), as well as from contributions of foundations and individual donors.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dozens of scientific projects are underway at the clinic. In addition to studies coordinated from abroad, in which our clinic participates, we are proud of those projects coordinated by our department, and to which foreign centers in turn contribute. In 2022, there were <\/span>X<\/span> such projects at the clinic. An example is the SENTIX study, which involved 42 centers from 18 countries in Europe, Latin America, and South Africa.<\/span><\/p>\n

The main outcome of scientific work is high-quality publications. Last year, our researchers were authors or co-authors of X publications in leading international journals (IF), of which X were our own publications.<\/span><\/p>\n

Scientific projects from our department influence treatment standards worldwide. Examples include the results of studies in the treatment of gynecological malignancies, which have become part of recommended guidelines in the USA (<\/span>https:\/\/www.nccn.org\/guidelines<\/span><\/a> – cervical cancer) or in Europe (<\/span>https:\/\/esgo.org\/explore\/guidelines\/<\/span><\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n \n\n \r\n \r\n
