Information before a planned oncogynecological surgery<\/h2>
\r\n

Dear Madam,<\/p>\n

Please report for hospitalization one day before the scheduled surgery to the Oncogynecology Department.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The following information will answer the most important questions before your hospital admission for surgery and help facilitate preoperative care.<\/p>\n

The purpose of the indication examination was to make the final decision regarding the type and extent of the surgical procedure.<\/strong> Additionally, a consultation took place with a specialist in internal medicine (internist) and an anesthesiologist, who discussed aspects of preoperative care with you and how you will be prepared and anesthetized for the surgery. A doctor from the Oncogynecology Department has recorded your medical history and provided you with the Informed Consent for the surgery.<\/p>\n

The date of the surgery is always determined after evaluating all patients, considering the severity of their conditions. We aim to schedule the surgery as early as possible, but it may be necessary to wait for your procedure.<\/p>\n

The surgery schedule, listing all patients to be operated on the following week, will be available on Friday after 1:00 PM. Information about your admission and the day of surgery will be provided by the nurses from the Oncogynecology Department, so please call them on Friday after 1:00 PM (preferably later) at +420 224 967 440.<\/strong> Have a pen and paper ready for any notes. For older patients or those with hearing difficulties, family members may call on their behalf. If your surgery is not scheduled for the following week, you must call again next Friday after 1:00 PM<\/strong> at the same number to check whether a date has been set.<\/p>\n

If the consultation indicates the need for additional examinations, please arrange them as soon as possible so that they are available at the time of your hospital admission.<\/p>\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/section>\r\n \n\n

The oncogynecology department is equipped with one premium room. This is a single room with a television and a refrigerator. Free access to the wireless network and a nearby entrance to the spacious garden, separated from the busy Prague environment, are also included. The room also has a fold-out chair, which your companion may use upon arrangement. Please note that room reservation cannot be guaranteed. It may happen that the room you reserved is not available due to departmental operations.<\/p>\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n \r\n

For this reason, we allow the presence of a companion even in the operating room before the start of the surgery itself. <\/p>\n

As part of this premium service, we provide accompaniment to the operating room, the option to spend the duration of the surgery in the clinic\u2019s private library, consultation with the head of the clinic, chief physician, or senior doctor in case of complications or unexpected prolongation of the surgery, and consultation with the senior doctor after the procedure.<\/p>\n

If you are interested in any premium service, please inform the nurse in the Oncogynecology Department on the Friday when the type and extent of the surgery (oncogynecological indications) are communicated to you. During the subsequent Friday phone call (when the exact date of the surgery is provided), you will be confirmed whether a premium room will be available for you. After discharge, you will receive a confirmation from the Oncogynecology Department nurses with the amount to be paid at the clinic\u2019s cashier.<\/p>\n

Preoperative preparation begins at home<\/h2>

At least five days before the surgery, follow these instructions:<\/h3>\r\n
\r\n
    \n
  1. Increase your daily fluid intake to at least 3 liters.<\/li>\n
  2. If you suffer from constipation, purchase Lactulose at a pharmacy and take one tablespoon three times a day.<\/li>\n
  3. As part of thrombosis and embolism prevention, it is necessary to have special elastic stockings for the surgery. Without these stockings, no surgery under general anesthesia can be performed. Thigh-high stockings can be purchased at a pharmacy according to the instructions of healthcare staff \u2013 you will receive an informational leaflet.<\/li>\n
  4. If you have previously experienced a venous condition (inflammation of the veins in the lower limbs, thrombosis, or embolism), ask your general practitioner to issue a prescription for antithrombotic stockings. You can then collect them at a medical supply store in your area.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/section>\r\n \n\n \r\n \r\n
    \r\n

    The day before hospital admission:<\/h3>\r\n
    \r\n
      \n
    1. Do not eat!<\/strong><\/li>\n
    2. Continue to drink plenty of fluids.<\/li>\n
    3. In the evening, carefully wash and clean your navel and remove nail polish. If you have artificial nails, remove the artificial nail on at least one finger.<\/li>\n
    4. You may shave the hair in your intimate areas and lower abdomen yourself. Otherwise, the nurse will do it on the day of admission.<\/li>\n
    5. Agree with your relatives on a \u201cpassword\u201d for sharing information about your health status over the phone, which you will provide on the day of admission. Without this password, we cannot inform your relatives.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/section>\r\n \n\n \r\n \r\n
      \r\n

      Morning on the day of hospital admission:<\/h3>\r\n
      \r\n
        \n
      1. Have a light breakfast. Do not fast!<\/strong> Continue to drink plenty of fluids<\/strong>. You may also take one of the nutritional supplements mentioned above.<\/li>\n
      2. Do not forget to bring your personal documents<\/strong> \u2013 national ID card<\/strong> (or another valid identity document, e.g., passport), a valid European health insurance card (EHIC)<\/strong>, and all forms<\/strong> you received at the clinic when the surgery was decided (carefully fill out especially the Consent for Hospitalization \u2013 including contacts of your relatives).<\/li>\n
      3. Bring all medications you are taking<\/strong> in quantities sufficient for the expected duration of hospitalization, in the original packaging (boxes or individual blisters), and do not bring medications in pill organizers:\n
          \n
        1. Hand them over to the admission nurse,<\/li>\n
        2. They will be stored in a separate container with your name,<\/li>\n
        3. The staff will administer them along with other prescribed medications,<\/li>\n
        4. Any remaining medication will be returned to you upon discharge.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
        5. Bring a nightgown, robe, slippers, toiletries, towel,<\/strong> and a small bag (e.g., plastic) for the day of surgery to store essential items; other belongings remain in the department.<\/li>\n
        6. Leave all valuables<\/strong> and payment cards at home, remove all jewelry including piercings. Do not wear makeup.<\/li>\n
        7. Bring your decision on temporary work incapacity \u2013 a printed copy of the \u201ceNeschopenka<\/strong>\u201d if issued before admission. If you need an \u201ceNeschopenka\u201d issued, prepare:\n
            \n
          1. Exact address of your place of stay during incapacity<\/strong> (if different from permanent address),<\/li>\n
          2. Full address of your employer,<\/strong><\/li>\n
          3. Name and complete address of your gynecologist.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/section>\r\n \n\n \r\n \r\n
            \r\n

            Prevention of unwanted blood clots (thrombosis) and pulmonary embolism<\/h3>\r\n
            \r\n

            In addition to elastic stockings, after complex surgeries for malignant tumors and in high-risk patients with a history of thrombosis or embolism, prolonged administration of injectable medications to prevent excessive blood clotting (Clexane, Fraxiparine, Inhixa, etc.) is necessary. The usual duration of preventive treatment is 28 days after surgery. You will be provided with a 3-day supply upon discharge, and your general practitioner or our internal clinic will arrange the prescription for the remaining medication. During hospitalization, it is not possible to issue a prescription, so it is advantageous to obtain one of the listed medications before admission. The medication is easy to administer, and most patients can manage it themselves.<\/p>\n
