You are being referred for an expert examination of the cervix or external genitalia \/ You are being recommended a conization or biopsy<\/h3>\r\n
\r\n

Findings on the cervix or external genitalia will be examined using a colposcope as part of a check-up at the Center for Cancer Prevention (COP). This examination is similar to the one you are used to at your gynecologist. A specialist doctor at our center will further evaluate the results of your previous tests and recommend the next steps. Most findings do not require surgical treatment. In that case, we will invite you for a follow-up visit or recommend monitoring with your gynecologist. <\/p>\n

In some cases, the diagnosis will be clarified by taking a tissue sample. <\/p>\n

For more serious findings, a conization will be recommended \u2013 a short procedure on the cervix in which tissue with precancerous changes is removed. This procedure can be performed at our facility under either general or local anesthesia. <\/p>\n

\r\n

Ultrasound examination is the most accurate method for diagnosing gynecological tumors. In cases of suspected gynecological malignancy, you may be advised to have a sample taken with a tru-cut needle. \r\n

Before oncogynecological surgery, it is crucial to evaluate the results of your previous examinations and plan the most appropriate type of procedure.<\/p>\n

For this purpose, there is an indication clinic where you will meet with our experts and personally discuss your concerns with them. For most patients, an oncogynecological ultrasound is also performed during this appointment. At the end of the examination, you will be recommended the most suitable course of action \u2013 surgery, starting treatment with medication, monitoring, etc.<\/p>\n

An integral part of oncological treatment is also care for your mental health and nutrition. That is why our team also includes a psychologist and a nutrition specialist.<\/p>\n

In gynecology, there are many types of tumors that are very rare. An ordinary doctor may encounter them either not at all during their career, or only very rarely. These atypical tumors often require specific treatment and monitoring. Many gynecological tumors are closely linked to damage (mutations) in specific genes. Patients who carry these mutations are monitored in a special clinic of our department, where they discuss options such as preventive surgeries, the use of hormonal medications, attempts at conception, and other matters. Although carrying gene mutations associated with gynecological cancers does not represent any stigma for patients, it is advisable to stay in contact with our experts, who will provide you with access to the latest approaches in this field. <\/p>\n

Clinical trials also provide access to the newest medications years before they are available through public insurance in the Czech Republic. All clinical trials are approved by an Ethics Committee, so there is no risk that your treatment would be worse than outside the trial. For this reason, our facility strives to enroll as many suitable patients as possible in clinical trials.
