Neonatal Intensive Care Unit<\/h1>

Special care offered for premature newborns<\/h3>\r\n
\r\n

Our neonatology department with a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is one of the few facilities in the Czech Republic providing highly specialized care for newborns born in the so-called gray zone of prematurity, i.e., extremely premature babies born between the 22nd and 24th week of pregnancy. Care for these newborns after birth is always initiated with parental consent.<\/p>\n

Intensive care is also provided to newborns born after prolonged premature rupture of membranes. These newborns usually have breathing difficulties and require highly specialized treatment (high-frequency ventilation, nitric oxide therapy, circulatory support, etc.), which our department provides in full.<\/p>\n

Special care is also provided to newborns with severe lung failure, which must be treated with unconventional methods of mechanical ventilation. We accept such newborns from other perinatology centers throughout the Czech Republic.<\/p>\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/section>\r\n \n\n \r\n \r\n

Care for premature newborns in the NICU and PICU<\/h3>\r\n
\r\n

The NICU and PICU departments provide comprehensive and highly specialized care for all newborns who need it. We care for infants born in our perinatology center as well as those born elsewhere. In the NICU and PICU, we focus on premature babies as well as full-term newborns with severe and life-threatening conditions (congenital defects, infectious diseases, etc.).<\/p>\n

Daily care is provided by a multidisciplinary team composed of neonatologists, pediatricians, specialist neonatal nurses, paramedics, midwives, and physiotherapists. They help our smallest patients and their families navigate this challenging period. Important members of the team also include microbiologists, pharmacists, laboratory staff, social workers, lactation consultants, biomedical engineers, and even orderlies, without whom neonatal care would be incomplete.<\/p>\n

For each baby admitted to the department, a dedicated team of specialists is prepared. They tailor care to the individual needs of the baby and the needs of the entire family.<\/p>\n

PHYSIOTHERAPY:<\/strong>
\nMost premature newborns and some full-term newborns require physiotherapy as part of their medical and nursing care. Our neonatology department has three physiotherapists who explain everything needed during care according to the current condition and needs of your baby. The main goal is to create optimal conditions for the child to achieve a quality start in motor development.<\/p>\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/section>\r\n \n\n \r\n \r\n
