First treatment of a newborn<\/h1>

The first examination within the first two hours after birth is performed by a pediatric nurse.<\/p>\n

The examination takes place on a heated bed for newborns.<\/p>\n

After drying the baby to prevent heat loss, the baby is marked with a plastic band with their name and number and tied to their hand. The number matches the number on your hand, and the same number is also written in special ink on the baby’s chest.<\/p>\n

The next step is to check the baby’s adaptation, during which the pediatric nurse listens to the baby’s heart and breathing with a stethoscope, followed by measurements (weight, length), recording of body temperature, and treatment of the eyes with eye drops (to prevent eye infections).
\nDuring the first examination, possible postnatal injuries are also checked, serious congenital defects in the baby are ruled out, and vitamin K is administered to prevent serious neonatal bleeding.<\/p>\n

In the event of any problems with the baby, a pediatric neonatologist and a fully equipped intensive care and resuscitation unit are always available.<\/p>\n
